Local Committees

Welcome from the Chair of the Trust Board

I am delighted to welcome you to the local committee page of our Trust website.  I hope you find the content helpful and informative.

Each local committee is responsible for:

  • Ensuring accountability

  • Overseeing compliance

  • Ensuring risks to the organisation are managed

But there is more to the role of our local committees than working with our staff to secure these ends.  One of the strengths of the Trust is the individual identity of each of our schools.  And, of course, local oversight is vital to ensuring that each Trust school has deep roots in its community and serves local needs and aspirations in ways that work for the whole school community.

So, to all who serve as members of local committees in Trust schools, a huge “thank you” for all you do for our schools and their communities, and for all this brings to the Trust.

The role of Local Committees: Scheme of Delegation

The Trust operates local committees through a Scheme of Delegation, which is available below Scheme of Delegation

All LC members are appointed by the Trust and are expected to perform their duties in accordance with a Code of Conduct. Declarations of interest are declared and reviewed at each LC meeting. Code of Conduct

In situations where rapid improvement of a school is required, Trustee Directors may choose to put in place an interim local committee to work alongside or replace the local committee.
